Writers Block?

Several of my writing friends have been struck with the dreaded writers block.  I know how it feels.  It feels like the end of the world when you stare at an empty page.

Stella’s Solution:  Read and read and read.  This is your chance to catch up on all those lovely books piling up on the floor.  Then switch on your computer and start a stream of writing about anything, the weather, the cat, the itch on your right elbow.  Before you know it, a story will begin to form.  It may not be what you were planning to write next but at least it has loosened those frozen words.

Thank you so much for sharing the “Writers Block?”. I am on a fixed budget, like many of us, and get all of my books from the library and ask them to purchase books which have series.

I’ve been reading cozy mysteries for years and have been a closet writer but never had the courage to admit to anyone, except to my husband, that I enjoy writing. I am always afraid of repeating words which have already been written. I have never surpassed 27 rough (brainstorming) pages and I would put it aside for months. Once I’d sit down again, I would go to something else. This past week I opened up to a librarian and she convinced me to write short stories. I am guilty of being inspired by your books since I also have a pull to the shoreline but of course in my own way. I am enchanted by the British coastline since I was born in England but for the longest time I’ve been living in Canada. The Canadian coastline is also beautiful and enchanting.

I will continue to read, read, read. Thank you again for writing your books and posts!

    Ciao for now,

Dear Sabina – Well done for persevering. Write short stories before attempting a book. My book, ‘How to write short – short stories’, published by Alison and Busby may be a help. Kind Regards, Stella
